Current Funded Projects on Aerospace Autonomy

JPL Strategic R&TD: System Level Autonomy to Enable Autonomous Mapping Missions of Small Solar System Bodies

To enable a novel mission capability to autonomously investigate highly dynamic and uncertain environments, such as those occurring during low altitude small solar system body mapping.

JPL Topical R&TD: Autonomous Approach of Small Unknown Bodies

To enable a spacecraft to autonomously approach and maneuver around a small body of unknown physical parameters (shape and mass distribution) while simultaneously mapping the body’s geometry and gravity field as well as estimating the spacecraft’s trajectory around body.
